Terms of Service
Last updated: June 11, 2026
These are the terms that apply when you shop at lightmute.com. The essentials: prices are in USD with free US shipping, payment runs through Stripe, delivery takes 6–12 business days, and every order is covered by a genuine 30-day money-back guarantee. The rest of this page makes those promises, and the boundaries around them, legally precise.
1. Who you're buying from
Lightmute is the trade name under which SdJ Adv. operates this store, a sole proprietorship registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 90555813, with its registered office at Brink 17, 2742 LD Waddinxveen, the Netherlands. We sell exclusively to customers in the United States. You can reach us at info@lightmute.com, we reply within 1 business day. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern every visit to lightmute.com and every order placed through it.
2. Acceptance of these terms
By placing an order you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Shipping and Returns policies. If you do not agree, please do not place an order. You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your state) to purchase.
3. Products & descriptions
Dimming Dots are pre-cut adhesive stickers designed to dim or black out LED indicator lights on household electronics. We work hard to describe and photograph the product accurately, but minor variations can occur: screen settings affect how opacity levels appear, and packaging may differ slightly from photos.
Product specifications (number of dots, opacity levels, sheet counts) are listed on the product page at the time of order and are part of the agreement.
4. Ordering & order acceptance
Your order is an offer to buy. The agreement is concluded when we send the order confirmation email. We may refuse or cancel an order in limited cases:
If we cancel an order that you have already paid, you receive a full refund within 5 business days.
- suspected fraud or abuse,
- an obvious pricing or listing error (see section 5),
- a shipping address we cannot deliver to,
- stock that is unexpectedly unavailable, in which case we contact you first with the choice between waiting or a full refund.
5. Prices, taxes & pricing errors
All prices are in US Dollars (USD). Shipping within the United States is free, with no minimum. Where applicable, sales tax is calculated and shown at checkout based on your shipping address. The price shown at the moment you place your order is the price that applies: later price changes do not affect existing orders.
If a price is displayed that is obviously wrong (for example $1.29 instead of $12.95 due to a technical error), we may cancel the order and refund you in full. We will always inform you before doing so.
6. Payment
Payments are processed securely by Stripe and support major credit and debit cards and popular wallets. Your payment details go directly to Stripe over an encrypted connection; we never see or store your card number. Orders are charged at the moment of purchase. After payment you receive an order confirmation by email: check your spam folder if it doesn't arrive within an hour, or contact us.
7. Shipping & delivery
Orders are processed and handed to our fulfilment partner within 1–3 business days (Mon–Fri). Delivery within the United States typically takes 6–12 business days from your order date. You receive a tracking link by email the moment your order ships.
Please double-check your shipping address at checkout: it is your responsibility to provide a correct and complete address. If a package is returned to us because of an incorrect address, we'll contact you to arrange reshipment. Full details, including what happens with lost or damaged packages, are in our Shipping Policy at lightmute.com/shipping.
8. 30-day money-back guarantee
Every order is covered by a 30-day money-back guarantee, counted from the day your order is delivered. If the product isn't what you hoped for, for any reason, email info@lightmute.com and we'll refund the full purchase price. Opened and used products are explicitly covered; we want you to actually try them. The full process is described in our Returns Policy at lightmute.com/returns.
9. Product use & safety
Dimming Dots are intended for one purpose: dimming or blacking out small indicator LEDs on household electronics (TVs, routers, chargers, monitors, smart-home devices and similar). Please use them responsibly:
You are responsible for deciding which lights are safe to cover in your situation. Lightmute is not responsible for consequences of covering an indicator that you needed to see.
- Never cover safety-critical indicators: warning lights, fault or alarm indicators, or any light you rely on to know that safety equipment is working. For devices such as smoke or carbon-monoxide detectors, consult the manufacturer's guidance before covering any light, and never cover sensors, openings or test buttons.
- Only apply the stickers to the light itself, never over ventilation openings, sensors, microphones, charging contacts or hot surfaces.
- Keep the product away from small children and pets: small parts are a choking hazard.
- The stickers are designed for indoor household use on clean, dry, smooth surfaces.
- Residue-free removal is designed for typical household surfaces; test first on delicate or coated surfaces.
10. Intellectual property
All content on lightmute.com, text, photography, video, graphics, logos and design, is owned by or licensed to Lightmute and protected by copyright and trademark law. You may not copy, reproduce or commercially use any of it without our written permission. "Lightmute" and "Dimming Dots" are our trade names.
11. Acceptable use of the site
You agree not to misuse the site: no attempts to breach security, scrape content at scale, place fraudulent orders, interfere with other users, or use the site for any unlawful purpose. We may block access and cancel orders connected to misuse.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
Except for the express 30-day guarantee in section 8 and any warranty that cannot be excluded under applicable law, the site and products are provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free. Some states do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you, in that case, implied warranties are limited to the duration of the 30-day guarantee period where permitted.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law: our total liability for any claim arising out of or connected to an order or use of the site is limited to the amount you paid for that order, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages (such as damage to devices or surfaces caused by use contrary to the instructions in section 9). Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or rights you have under mandatory consumer protection laws of your state.
14. Force majeure
We are not liable for delays or failure to perform caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including carrier disruptions, extreme weather, natural disasters, strikes, government actions, or failures of suppliers and networks. If such an event delays your order significantly, you may cancel it for a full refund.
15. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, where Lightmute is operated, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights you enjoy under the laws of your state of residence, which remain fully applicable.
If something goes wrong, contact us first at info@lightmute.com, in practice we resolve virtually everything directly with a refund, replacement or solution within days. Formal disputes that cannot be resolved amicably may be brought before the competent courts.
16. General provisions
If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in full force, and the invalid provision is replaced by a valid one that comes closest to its intent. These Terms, together with the policies they reference, are the entire agreement between you and Lightmute regarding your purchase. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms in connection with a business transfer; you will be informed if that affects you.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version published at the time you place your order applies to that order. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version.
